

Fr. Larry Brennan died on January 15, 2015 at the Ajax-Pickering Hospital. He was in his 88th year of life and had lived nearly 70 years in religious life in the Society of Jesus. Larry was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on June 8, 1927, son of Daniel Brennan and Jessie Mullins. His older brother, Fr. Joe Brennan, is also a Jesuit and lives and works in India. In 1954 Larry began his long ministry among the First Nations people of Northern Ontario which lasted for 37 years. He served at Garnier Residential School in Spanish, Ontario from 1954-57. After priestly ordination he ministered among the people of Wikwemikong on Manitoulin Island from 1962-65, then 18 years with the people of Heron Bay, Caldwell and Mobert, Ontario, and then 13 years at Armstrong, Ontario. From 1996-2009 he served at the Martyrs' Shrine in Midland, Ontario. When he retired from active ministry, Larry lived with the Jesuits in Pickering where he served the Jesuit Community pastorally and prayed for the Church and the world.
Friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, January 20th from 7-9 p.m. at the St. Ignatius Chapel, Manresa Spiritual Renewal Centre, 2325 Liverpool Rd. North, Pickering, ON. Prayer service to be held at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21st, 2015 at the St. Ignatius Chapel, Manresa Spiritual Renewal Centre. Interment to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Jesuit Cemetery, 5420 Hwy 6, Guelph, ON.
