Wilcox, Lena May née Jackson
It is with a deep sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of a wonderful woman, Lena May Wilcox,in her 87th year at East General Hospital on Monday, November 17th, 2014. Born in South River, Ontario on March 3, 1928, she spent most of her life raising children in Toronto. Much loved wife of 64 years of Fred, inspirational mother of Terry Brannigan (Gus), Jill Genno (friend Rocco) and Glenn Wilcox (Karin), cherished grandma of Charlene May Genno, and Darren and Jennifer Wilcox. She is survived by her sisters, Sarah Edwards and Jean Jackson, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and good friends including Mary and Richard. Sadly predeceased by her father and mother, Herbert and Ethel Jackson, siblings Mary and Mabel and son-in-law Stanley Genno. She will be fondly remembered as an independent, strong willed woman who cared for many others and had great love for, and pride in, her family. She was an incredible homemaker and especially enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, quilting and visits to the farms. The family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and nurses of H7 at Toronto East General Hospital and CCAC for the amazing care and compassion offered Lena and her family. Visitation will be at Giffen Mack Funeral Home at 2570 Danforth Avenue, Toronto, ON M4C 1L3 from 4:00 to 8:00 on Tuesday, November 18th. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 at 11:00 am, followed by a reception with Tetley tea. Internment will be in the South River Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Lena would be delighted if a donation were made to the Grace Anglican Church, P.O.
