My zio Luigi my dad🙏Carissimo zio my daddy Mario Panzini your big brother would be so proud of you; when my daddy tragically died here in Toronto you my nonno Domenico nonna  Ascenza were there to pick up the pieces; my mom was to heart sick afterwards. .with nonno and nonna and  you there,  zia Giulia zia Teresa  zio Saverio became our guardians loved me and my brother like we were your children.  My brother and I bonded with each and one of you all of you became our parents.  Caro zio I will always remember your teasing and your mischievous ways especially when I was four or five yrs old .  I remember your whistling and calling me when you would be looking for me so you could tease me to death about a certain boyfriend you had in mind for me that was passing by our house.  For god sake I was only four 🤣but I took it seriously and hide and scream at you that it was not true. You left us to come to Canada and zia Teresa and zio Saverio came shortly after too.   part of us left with you.  Then we came too, first person  i sought was my zio daddy the light switched  on familiar face and safety. With his  booming voice calling our names then showered us with love and while hugging me he asked me about my boyfriend he laughed and laughed I dint care about the teasing  all I cared I had my zio daddy. Caro zio you never abandoned us .  When I met frank you were the first to meet him, Poor Frank he got roasted royally.  of course Frank fell under your spell.  You came through for us right till the end.  You and zla Giulia Mario took care of Christopher  when in need your door open and porch light on.  Your last request &  wish that I never expected was to have donations made to Chris & Michael. There is no words to express my feelings, you gave my children recognition and respect that they deserve.  

Thank you zio for loving us unconditionally you will always be our second dad . .  







Nonno,

I spent many an afternoon as a child sitting in the mud watching you and Nonna tend to your garden. You would share the work between the two of you. Tending carefully to each plant, each creature, and to me and each other. 

It was these moments between you and Nonna and you and the world, where I learned to love. I see now, Nonno, that everything you had ever done in your life was motivated by love or to protect your love ones. Each choice traces back to a loving and caring sentiment, right down to each prank and tomato plant.

In fact, I remember an afternoon where a particularly young and precocious version of myself was reading a novel about a girly girl who hated to get her hands dirty. So in love with the character, I decided that I too was a girly girl. In true Nonno fashion, you laughed and said something simultaneously clever and wise about how life requires that we get our hands dirty and how foolish it was to be so afraid of dirtying hands you can wash off. 

So, I got dirty. Then, I washed my hand off and saw how right you were. In many ways Nonno, the lessons you shared with me on these afternoons turned me into the person I am today. Headstrong, resilient, caring to a fault, motivated by love, and so willing to jump into life even if I get dirty. How fortunate I feel to have been blessed, through some cosmic miracle, to have had such a remarkable Nonno.

My Memory of  Mr. Panzini,

While I didn't have the pleasure of knowing him very long, every time a saw him at a family event he had this infectious smile and a real calm about him. 

I remember him at a New Years event and his Grand daughter Christina's wedding, you can tell he was in his glory with his family and the love was mutual. 

Rest in peace and my sincerest condolences to the family.

My family and I lived next door to Cumpare Luigi and his beautiful family from before I was born until 1996.  I have very fond memories of Luigi growing up. His laugh was contagious. He always had a smile for me and a heart of gold.  He and my late father would spend many evenings on the veranda, sharing stories and drinking wine.  The Panzinis and Rocca were family to me and I always felt like I was safe and loved by them.
When my dad passed in 1989 Luigi and Guilia took care of my mom, sister and I ensuring we never felt alone.
I loved Luigi very much and feel happy knowing my Dad has welcomed him in heaven with open arms and a glass of wine. Rip Luigi.  God bless. ❤

My dad had a great sense of humor and always riding the edge. He would get such a kick out of it and laugh.

His grandson Matthew Panzini captured such a moment with his exceptional artistic talent.

I met Luigi in passing at a few family events, but it is exactly for that reason that by the dignity and grace of his family, I can tell that Luigi was a man of the highest character and dignity. I am thankful to have been a part of various family festivities; and with Father's Day marking his passing, I reflect on the profound impact that great fathers and role models have on our individual selves, our families, and beyond. I can attest that by his success in raising a beautiful and tight-knit family, Luigi's legacy will be lasting and heart-felt. My condolences to the Panzini family in this time of mourning and remembrance.
