I was  very sad to read of the death of Marie. I didn't know that she was suffering from cancer. I  am her cousin Angela from the UK. Our heartfelt condolences go to Scott and his family. From her cousins Angela and Hilary. I am sorry it comes so late but unfortunately we didn't know. I  wondered why I hadn't heard from her for so long.

To Derek, Trish, Cheyenne and Cole,  I am so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Marie almost my entire career, over 30 years. She was always a positive force in the pathology department, welcoming the newcomers,  a fount of knowledge for questions and solving problems. The calm voice in the storm. She always had something good to say, often funny. Marie was my cousin, Marie Speaking. Whenever I answered the phone with "Barb speaking" she would answer "well hello Barb Speaking, this is your cousin, Marie Speaking".  Marie was like a den Mother for pathology. She had a knack for bringing people together. We are going to miss her cheerful voice and smiling face. Thank goodness for our memories. 

As a breast pathologist at UHN I had the pleasure and privilege of working closely with Marie for more than 20 years.  Marie was outstanding at her job. She always put the needs of the patients at the forefront.  She was incredibly well organized and always proactive and reliable.  She was widely acknowledged as a great resource within the department.  No matter what was going on she was never overwhelmed and remained calm and patient at all times.  Marie had very definite standards, was always professional and treated all with respect and dignity.  She made sure that things were done on time and done well.  
Marie had so many strong friendships at UHN both within and beyond the Department.   She was well respected by all breast site clinicians and their administrative assistants.   Marie was a great resource for all things breast pathology, LMP and UHN related and her advice was often sought out.  
Marie was very loyal to UHN, Princess Margaret, LMP and the breast site.  She clearly enjoyed her work at UHN.  She took great pride in her long service at UHN and the long service community she was a part of.   
It was always clear that her family was the most important part of her life.  She often spoke of her son Scott, daughter-in law, Trish, the friendship she shared with Trish’s mother, and she was so proud of her grandchildren, Cheyenne and Cole.   Her family photos had pride of place in our office at Princess Margaret and by her desk when we moved over to TGH.   Marie had a great sense of humour and loved to tell of the adventures on her latest cruise and her latest jewelry bargains.  We used to joke about the events on Coronation Street.   It’s hard to come to terms with the fact that she has gone.  Marie’s character will remain an inspiration for me and all who knew her.

I was sad to learn of your mother's passing.  Over the years your mom and I spoke many times.  I always appreciated her outlook on life, wisdom, advice and humour.  I will miss those talks.  Your mom is a great lady and has been a good neighbour and friend.  I extend my condolences to you and your extended family.

Beautiful memories I have of Aunty Marie and of the late Uncle Derek of my holiday in Canada in 1980 with my dad and cousin Beverley. They gave us a holiday of a lifetime of which I still reminisce. The times when they came to Ireland and we brought them to all their favourite places.... the craic we all shared was priceless and we will never forget them. 
My mum is deeply saddened by Aunty Marie’s passing as we all are.

I know I speak on behalf of my family here in the Emerald Isle when I say how very shocked and saddened we were to hear of Aunt Marie's passing.  We all have special memories of times spent exploring our  homeland and reminiscing about the good old times.  I know for one my mum will miss her Christmas Letter ( it was always the first to arrive) and hear of her adventures, cruises and just how everyone had been keeping.

It was with a heavy heart we heard of the passing of Marie. Although we had known her only a short time compared to some she was a constant ray of sunshine and wit when we cruised together. 

What started off as two people meeting at Pudding Club turned in to a bi-annual cruise creating beautiful and cherished memories never to be forgotten. 

A true beacon of light, humour and teller of truths Marie will be deeply missed.

I am so very shocked and saddened to read about the passing of Marie Wilson in the UHN News.  We often met at the elevators at UHN or at the Warden station bus stop while waiting to catch the 102.   We invariably sat together and caught up on news since our last chat.   Marie was a lovely person and a pleasure to chat with.  I shall miss her dearly.  My heartfelt condolences to the family.  She will be sorely missed.  I shall pray that the good Lord give you all peace.  Marie is in a better place looking down upon her beloved family and all of us.  RIP dear Marie.

It is with great sadness that I learned about Marie’s passing. She was always a delight to work with, invariably joyful and positive. After I moved to BC in 2000, Marie always kept in touch with me, telling me about her next cruise with Berit every year, her family, as well as  news about UHN. I will miss her and her annual email messages. My condolences to her family and friends.

I am profoundly saddened by Marie’s passing. She took me under her wing on day one after my transfer to PMH in the late 1990’s and never stopped being a presence in my professional life. Her dedication to her family, friends, and career is truly inspirational. My deepest condolences to both her family at home and her family in the Pathology Department. She will be missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Marie for over 3 decades and during that time I benefitted from her helpful, up-beat, cheerful, practical approach to our work. During her career countless patients also benefitted from her care and concern for them as reflected in her patient care work.
Marie seemed to possess the enviable quality of pursuing what she enjoyed to do, and enjoying what she did.

I'm so saddened to hear of Marie's passing.  I didn't work closely with Marie, but saw her regularly in the mornings either in the hallway or outside of Toronto General Hospital.  She always greeted me with a huge smile and warm words.  Without really knowing it, she was a bright spot.  After 57 years at UHN, I'm am sure she was a ray of sunshine to hundreds of people.  She will be deeply missed by her colleagues at UHN's Lab Medicine Program.  I'm so sorry for your family's loss.

I am terribly saddened by the loss of such a wonderful person.  Marie was a stalwart member of the Department of Pathology for as long as I can remember.  She was dedicated to her work and her colleagues.  We always knew who to ask for help, and she never hesitated to do whatever could be done.  She will be missed and never forgotten.  Sincerest condolences to those she left behind.

Marie was a very special person.  I joined UHN in 2015 and met Marie early on via my interactions with the Breast Pathology group.  But it was the informal interactions with Marie that are my fondest memories.   She would often pass me in the department talking to a colleague and make a sly remark about "me not doing enough work".  And this barb became a shared joke between us.  We had many good laughs together and my heart was always warmed to see Marie.  She had an infectious happiness and I will personally miss her presence in the department profoundly.

I met Marie on my first day in the Pathology Department at the Princess Margaret Hospital at Sherbourne and Wellesley in 1997. Throughout the years, she was a constant ray of sunshine, quick with a joke to lighten my day, and an all round wonderful person. Marie was a talented admin assistant and so much fun at lots of office and lab parties.
