It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mario Ugo Carnevale, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who left us peacefully on July 31, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.
Born in Scigliano, Cosenza, Italy on February 1, 1931, he left his homeland in July 1958 bound for Toronto, Canada to begin a new chapter of life with his beloved bride, Francesca. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, family, and unwavering devotion to one another. Married for 67 years, their bond was a true testament to enduring partnership and commitment.
He was the proud and loving father of Angie (Domenic) and Faustina (Nelson) and a devoted Nonno to Charles (Samantha), Matthew (Haley), Daniel, and Sarah. He was also a cherished Bisnonno to his adoring great grandchildren Hannah and Noah. Nothing brought Nonno more joy than being surrounded by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their laughter, energy, and love filled his heart with pure happiness and gave him a deep sense of purpose and pride.
Family and friends meant everything to Mario– relationships he valued deeply and nurtured with love and kindness throughout his life. His warmth, humility, and generosity touched the lives of everyone he encountered. He was always ready to lend a helping hand or check in with a thoughtful call or visit, never expecting anything in return.
Mario had a zest for life and a spirit of adventure. He embraced every opportunity with curiosity and courage, never afraid to take on new challenges or learn something new. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he approached life with open arms and an open heart.
Mario will be remembered for his boundless spirit, embracing life to the fullest, and never shying away from pushing himself beyond limits. He believed in the power of kindness, the importance of treating others with respect, and the value of new experiences. His legacy is one of love, courage, and a life well lived—a testament to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
With heartfelt appreciation, we recognize Dr. Ernest Youssef, Dr. Gavril Hercz, the exceptional team at Humber River Health’s Kidney Care Clinic and the healthcare professionals at Toronto Western Hospital for their kindness and support. Their dedication to compassionate care brought comfort and strength to Mario and his family.
He will be profoundly missed and forever in our hearts.
