Mary Campbell Vaxvick passed away peacefully on the morning of August 29,2023 at Trilogy LTC after a full life in her 96th year. Predeceased by her husband Kalmer, brothers Sandy (Mary), Jimmy (Ruby) and Robert Macpherson and sisters Anne Jones (Aubrey), Jessie Vaxvick (George).
Much loved by nieces and nephews Sandra Rowe (Frank), Alexander, Rory Jones (Judi), Elizabeth O’Brien (Tom), Laura MacQuarrie (Andy), Barb Bowes (Brent).
Great nieces and nephews Ashleigh, Alastair, Kirstin, Sarah, Jennifer, Heather, Mike, Jennifer, Oren, Tina, Rachyl as well as many other nieces and nephews from her extended Macpherson and Vaxvick family.
She loved to travel and her and Kal spent many winters in Florida. After Kals death she went on trips to Scotland, Las Vegas, and England with friends. She was frequently visiting friends and family and exploring new restaurants. She never wanted to sit around for long.
She loved to hear about activities and events to do with her nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with them.
She spent many years in the Canada Wire factory where she served as a Union steward. She was valuable in bringing better working conditions to the factory, including persevering through a strike. After leaving the factory she retired for a while but ended up back in the workplace. Working in cosmetics at Eaton’s, selling auto parts at numerous automotive shops and working as an accounting clerk for a tool & die company were among her many jobs throughout her life. She also enjoyed volunteering at Michael Garron Hospital (formerly Toronto East General Hospital) for over 15 years.
A celebration of Mary’s life service will be held September 29th at Jerret funeral home at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Cancer Society, Canadian Lung Association or a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
Many thanks to the staff at Trilogy LTC for their care of Mary.
She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
