

Melita, born to Jacob and Katherine Loewen, in Macklin, SK on November 5, 1929, was the second child of seven Loewen siblings. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry in 2006, and her parents, four brothers, and one sister.
Melita will be deeply missed by her sister Wilma, her sisters in-law Amy, Elsbeth, and Irmgard, her brothers in-law John and Arthur, as well as her daughters Chrystl, Roxanne, Carmita (Sheldon), Pamela (Gregory), her three grandchildren Austyn (Neil), Cohen (Taylor), Olivia, and two great grandchildren Aylin and Nash, along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
Melita found joy in teaching, baking whole wheat bread, and collecting and sharing inspirational quotes. She will be remembered for her love of singing, Scrabble, and sweets.
We are grateful to the folks at St. Matthew's Bracondale House where Melita lived for 8 years, and to the Wychwood Davenport Presbyterian Church community.
We also extend a heartfelt thank you to the 11th floor healthcare team at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto, and to Melita's 'special angels' for their kindness and care. Melita was surrounded by family, comforted with music, and held in love throughout her life and in her final days.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on January 31, 2026 at St Matthew's Bracondale House in Toronto. Interment will follow in Saskatoon, SK at a later date.
