In Memory of Robert (Bob) Marshall Barr
June 6, 1924 - February 12, 2017
Robert Barr passed away peacefully on Sunday February 12, 2017 at Sunnybrook at the age of 92, followed by a Flag Ceremony honouring him as a WWII Veteran. He was a Navigator with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943-1945, stationed in England and flying a Lancaster Bomber. After he came back from the war he graduated from the University of Toronto as a Mechanical Engineer and then worked for most of his career as a Project Manager at Rexnord. He was our dear Dad, loving husband, sweet grandfather & a good friend. We are all very sad & will miss him very much. We are glad that he's at peace, with his lifetime love of over 65 years, our Mom. They were married on October 23, 1948.
Bob is survived by 3 loving daughters, 3 devoted sons-in-law, Janis Barr McElmurry (Neal McElmurry), Sharon Barr (Mark Kuhlmann), Carolann Barr (Rob Morgan) and 4 admiring grandchildren Nelson McElmurry, Chris McElmurry, Danielle Muise and Robyn Muise.
He was preceded in death by his wife, who he missed everyday, Helen Margaret Barr (nee Jepson) August 25, 1925 – February 8, 2014, by his parents, Marshall Barr and Elizabeth Barr (nee Telford) and his grandson Jamieson Kuhlmann.
Bob was one of those unique and rare individuals who brought to those around him a special vibe. Always selfless, incredibly gentle, a persona we should all strive to be like. Born and raised in Toronto, Bob will be remembered for his love of family, his inspirational values and strong faith and love for Jesus Christ and the belief of his soon return.
He will be missed by all of those that were fortunate to have crossed paths with him, including our dogs Harley, Bonnie and Shadow.
Family will be having a Memorial Service to be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ADRA Canada (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) www.adra.ca
