It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Shawn Patrick Bouffard who died suddenly on March 1, 2025 at the age of 53. Shawn was a loving husband, father and friend, whose life was tragically cut short due to the struggles he faced with his mental health. Though his battle with these invisible struggles was not always visible to those around him, he was deeply loved, and his absence leaves a hole that cannot be filled.
Shawn was known to love his children Kyle, Brooklyn and Shelby. He had a unique way of making those around him feel special, and his compassionate nature touched many lives. Whether through re-building mustangs, the love he had for his two dogs Lolah and Chloe or his love for tattoos. Shawn had a way of leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met and would be there whenever his friends needed him.
Unfortunately, like many others, Shawn fought a silent battle with mental health issues, and this loss serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion, understanding, and support for those who are struggling. His death shines a light on the need for greater awareness, open conversations, and the de-stigmatization of mental health challenges.
Though Shawn’s struggles were private, his loved ones never gave up on him. He is survived by his children, Kyle, Brooklyn (Travis) and Shelby, as well as his spouse Christine, his brother Rick and nephew Shane, his close friend Denis and his Mother Rosemarie (predeceased) will be remembered for the love, joy, and laughter he brought to their lives. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to CAMH in honor of Shawn, to support those who are fighting similar battles.
Please, take a moment to reach out to someone today—your words or actions might make more of a difference than you know.
