

Did not go gently into that good night, fought it every step of the way, in the middle of a rain storm went home to be with her Lord with her loving family by her side. Shelly had a tremendous love for life and all the abundance it had to offer. Beloved wife to Dr. David McLachlan for 30 years. Loving mother to Dawson and Delaney. Cherished daughter of the late Joseph Gorchynski and Betty, and step-dad Reg (Cayer). Sister to Darcy (Donna), and David. Sister- in- law to Doug and Glen (Sandy). Special friend to Gloria, Lisa, Colleen and Barbara. Will be sadly missed by her uncle Dr. Warren Shepell, nieces, nephews, many friends, colleagues, her sisters at the Wexford, and Buddy, her pom-poo.
Shelly entered nursing school at the age of 16 and became an RN at 18. She worked at Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg, before moving to Toronto. She attained an Honours BSc at UofT, and a Masters in Counseling at Adler. She worked for 8 years at Warren Shepell Consultants, then in various roles at Wexford Long Term Care for 9 years, instituting the Palliative Care program in her last 2 years there. She then became Director of Resident Care at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Care Centre. She left her unfinished manuscript “Peace At Work”, a book she was writing for work place harmony.
Friends may visit at TRULL FUNERAL HOME, “North Toronto Chapel” 2704 Yonge Street (5 blocks south of Lawrence Avenue) on Wednesday July 2, 2014 from 2:00-4:00pm, and from 6:00-8:00pm. A Funeral Service to Celebrate Shelly’s Life will be held in the chapel on Thursday July 3, 2014 at 11:00am. If desired, in memoriam donations can be made to World Vision.
