It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of St. Clair El Moore Jacob in his 79th year on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, after a lengthy illness. St. Clair was survived by his two sons Nigel (spouse: Tiffany) and Justin (spouse: Katherine) and his five grandchildren: Bodhi, Thea, Friede, Maya and Nola; as well as his ex-wife Erma; his god-daughter, Sophia; his two older brothers, Lenny and Hugh, his sister, Auldin and his nephews and nieces. St. Clair was born in Trinidad on February 26th, 1943, to Una Jacob and Fitzpatrick Dowling. He attended Osmond High School and graduated from the first Culinary School at the Trinidad Hilton Hotel, where he was trained in Food and Beverage Management. He held many management positions at various hotels and restaurants, starting with the Gaylord Restaurant in Trinidad, and the Commonwealth Holiday Inn Hotels in Sudbury and London, Ontario, Canada and Port of Spain, Trinidad. After a lengthy career in the hospitality industry, he retired at 60 years of age. St. Clair and Erma immigrated to Canada in 1971, where he lived most of his life.
After his retirement, St. Clair moved back to Trinidad for a few years where he enjoyed time with his family. Upon returning to Canada, he made strong connections and lasting friendships at St. David's Village in Scarborough ON where he lived for many years, until moving to Main Street Terrace where he was well-cared for by the kind and supportive staff. St. Clair made friends easily and was a positive member of the community. His bright smile and generous laughter was appreciated by all who knew him, and his love of life and easy-going manner will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
An online gathering for family will be held via Zoom on Sunday, April 17th from 1:00pm - 2:30pm EDT. A link to the zoom will be sent out separately. Online condolences for the family can be placed below
