I am sorry to hear the news that Umberto has passed away. It was heartbreaking to hear the loss of Umberto. But I know that we never lose the people we love. They live with us in our hearts the rest of our lives.

To our loving father whom we will never forget. Nonno Umberto and Daddy you were one of kind, no one in this world will ever take your place in our hearts. Please do not forget us and only help us to feel you from above, as we will never forget you. Hi Nonno, I love you in the whole city, thank you for taking care of me, thank you for letting me work with you when you weren't sick. From Sofia: I will get to know you everyday through mommy and daddy. From your son: No one could have asked for a better father than you, you dad have raised me to be a better man forever you in my heart. From Claudia: Thank you for accepting me for who I am and always making me a part of the family. Thank you for allowing your son and I carry on your name BORRELLI forever. Love forever your family.

I cannot imagine what you and your family are going through right now and I know that no words will comfort the heartache you feel.  My heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult loss.  

Umberto was a loving person who I remember always having a smile on his face and a laugh that was contagious.  I loved being in his company and will always cherish the memories I have of him.  From teaching me how to drive to showing me what certain tools were used for and all the million other lessons in life he taught me in between, I will never forget what a great person he was.  He was like a second dad to me.  He loved children (of all ages) and loved to laugh and make people laugh.

It was heartbreaking to hear the loss of Umberto.  But I know that we never lose the people we love. They live with us in our hearts the rest of our lives.  He will always have a special place in my heart and will never be forgotten.

We are very saddened by the passing of Umberto. While we were "just neighbours," we have had a great deal of respect and admiration for what was important to Umberto: his skillful craftsmanship; his humour; and his family. We'll miss Bert's kind thoughts and words, and his smile.

May God bless each of you as you pass through this "veil of tears."
