

William “Bill” LaFave passed away peacefully at the Sunnybrook Veterans’ Centre on Wednesday November 15, 2023, just four months short of his 100th birthday.
Bill is predeceased by his wife of 52 years Elizabeth (Betty) LaFave, (nee Porteous), sons William (Billy) LaFave, Randall May, great grandson Ryan Bradshaw and his dear companion Dottie Hrbek.
He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Barry LaFave and wife Mona, and Bruce May, daughter Carolyn LaFave, and his grandchildren Heather, Scott, Ian, Carrie, Stacy, Shawn, Tara, Travis, and great grandchildren Cody, Liam, Kyle, Reece and Karma.
Bill join the RCAF as a member of the ground support team in 1942. He was indoctrinated at Exibition Park in Toronto then later moved to Rockcliffe Airbase in Ottawa, where he awaited tranfer to Perivale, England where he joined the war effort. During WW2 he served in England, Italy, Egypt, Palestine, North Africa and Greece. At the end of the war in 1945 he was moved back to England awaiting his return to Canada and his release from the RCAF. Bill LaFave is a decorated WW2 veteran.
Bill was a retired General Manager of National Warehousing with the TD Bank. He is the founding member and life member of the Toronto and Florida Sons of Beaches Ball Team.
Bill was also a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1/42 Toronto.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 10am until time of Service in the Chapel at 2pm. Cremation. At the family’s request, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Sunnybrook Health Science Centre Veterans’ Wing.
