
Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and true friend passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Devoted to his family, friends and Catholic faith he leaves a legacy of unconditional love for all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a zest for life, a great work ethic, a life-long passion for sports and had traveled the world, including seeing all 50 states and 7 continents.
Born in Windber, PA, the son of a Slovak immigrant coal miner, he attended Dickinson College on a football scholarship and went on to achieve his Master in Education at Temple University. He served in the Army and met the love of his life while stationed in Germany. He later went on to have a highly successful career with Arco Products Company, including international assignments. Andy was a resident of Rancho Palos Verdes for over 30 years.
Andy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Christa Cominsky, and children AnnMarie (daughter) and Keith Blankenship, and Joanne (daughter) and Kevin Scoville. He was blessed with two grandchildren, Andrew Blankenship and Matthew Blankenship. He is also survived by his three sisters: Annamae Sebright, Eleanor Dunkleman, and Patricia Cominsky.
The Memorial Mass will be held at St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Redondo Beach on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 11am. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Andrew Albert Cominsky to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
