Augusto attended college in California. He managed to get his degree in Electronic Engineering while working to support himself away from his family. In California, Augusto met Sara to whom he married after he graduated from college and got a job. A year later, their son Henry was born and they decided to move back to Peru, where their daughter Janet was born. Augusto worked for Entel Peru for many years, traveling within the country. But when his wife suddenly passed away, he made the decision of keeping his job local to be able to raise his two children by himself. Augusto promised his wife to keep the family together and to give both of their children the same opportunities, promises that he kept.
Augusto was disciplined and consistent, and family meant everything to him and would always come first. After his retirement, he ate, exercised (swim or taichi) and took naps/slept on schedule, But once he knew his grandson Kyle needed someone to pick him up from school, he didn’t hesitate to change his schedule. He would pick him up daily from school and then they would enjoy pizza or In-n-Out burger together among other things. Augusto also took his grandson to his soccer practices which he enjoyed very much as they both share the same love for soccer. Augusto traveled to Peru once a year to spend time with his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Besides the love Augusto had for his family and soccer, he also loved food. He loved Japanese / Okinawan food like a sashimi bowl or okinawan soba, Peruvian food, like a chita frita or a tallarin saltado or American food like hamburger, pizza or donut and dessert, like bread pudding or ice cream. And his favorite drink, Inka Kola. He enjoyed home cooked meals as well as restaurant meals. The key was to enjoy a tasty meal in good company with family and/or friends.
Augusto was the strength of the family. He wanted to live past 100 years old. Augusto loved life and enjoyed celebrating birthdays. He fought cancer like the champion he was. He was never defeated by it. He always kept going and never gave up. Augusto was predeceased by his wife Sara, his parents Tomio and Miye and his brothers Haruo and Masa. He is survived by his siblings Michan, Hiroe, Keiko and Manuel, his children Henry and Janet and his grandchild Kyle.
