Engel, Barbara June ''Baba'' a resident of The South Bay (Redondo Beach - 10 yrs. & Torrance - 30 yrs.) passed away on Monday, May 31, 2005, at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, California due to diabetic/heart related complications. Baba was born in San Francisco on June 1, 1939 to Evelyn and Elvezio ''Fat'' Pedrazzi and raised in Salinas, California.
Baba is survived by her Husband, Werner Engel of Torrance, California, twin sons Al & Theo Engel, of Torrance, California, Baba's brother George Pedrazzi of Salinas, California, her sister Jeanne Pedrazzi of Lady Lake, Florida and sister Patty Barron of Huntsville, Alabama.
Baba began working in the typing industry in 1965 for TRW as a repro typist. Baba was known as one of the best typist in the industry as well as the fastest typing well over 100 words per minute. To spend time with her twin boys who were born in 1967, Baba quit TRW and began working as a self employed job shopper doing the same type of work at night for different publication companies such as Pace Publications, Viking of California, Key Systems, Volt, JD Publications and many others. In 1975, Baba set out on her own starting her own business as a self employed contractor working out of her home doing repro typing for the same publication companies she worked in-house for. These publications had contracts with the aerospace industry such as McDonald Douglas, Hughes, Hughes Aircraft, Litton, TRW, JPL, etc.
In 1985, due to the decline in aerospace work, Baba got into the field of medical transcription. After some training and gathering of accounts, she formed ''Baba & Associates'' in 1988 and had several transcribing accounts and at one point had five individuals subcontracting work from her.
Baba loved gardening, her family and animals and loved spending time with her family. Baba also loved playing the piano which she learned to do as a child in Salinas, California and played piano in many night clubs in her early 20's in Los Angeles, California. Baba continued the love for the piano, but due to family and the constant pressures of running her business, found less and less time to play throughout the years.
Baba was very much loved and respected by her family, friends and animals and was a very caring, loving and compassionate woman who will be missed and loved forever, especially by her twin sons.
