Barbara Alexis Stetson

With sadness, the family regrets to report the passage of our sister Barbara Alexis Stetson. Always sweet and caring, we and all who knew her will miss her so very deeply. Born on November 28, 1949 at Torrance Memorial Hospital, Barbara attended Nativity Grammar School, Torrance High School, and UC Santa Barbara; she received her degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills. Her parents, Dr. Rodney and Claire Stetson, and brother, Timmy, passed away before her. Barbara is survived by her seven brothers and sisters; Michael (Kathlynn) residing in San Pedro, Patricia Kassity (Karl) of Santa Barbara, Kathryn of Plano, Texas, Daniel (Roxanne) of Irvine, James of Torrance, Edward Joseph (Mary) of Santa Barbara, and William (Erica) of Manhattan Beach. She also leaves behind an aunt “Auntie Anne” Cameron and eight nephews and nieces, Susan, Michael Patrick, Stephanie and Katie Grogan, Claire Marie, William (Pax), Elenor (Ellie) and Thomas (Sohn). As much as Barbara was loved, she loved in return. It was simple and uncompromising, always asking little in return – innocent and unpretentious. Although highly intelligent, she was always humble and concerned with others. Compassionate and charitable, her nobility of heart was beyond repute. Barbara’s departure has left us fond memories and sadness that we can no longer hear her laughs and see her smiles. We will always love you, Barbara. Mass will be said on Sunday, September 29th at 2:00 p.m., at Nativity Catholic Church located at 1447 Engracia Ave, Torrance, CA with a reception to be held thereafter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Little Company Peninsula Recovery Center, 1386 7th Street, San Pedro, CA.
