Rankine, Baxter James, a 30 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2007 in Torrance. Born in Moncks Corner, SC, Baxter was 70 when he died. Baxter had served in the Coast Guard as an officer from 1960-1967. Baxter was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church. In addition to being a devoted father, he was successful in many business endeavors. He was an avid golfer and was passionate about physical fitness, UCLA football and basketball.
He is survived by his Wife, Joyce Rankine of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Son, Dave (Diane) Rankine of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; Daughter, Julie Rankine of San Francisco, CA; and 3 Grandchildren: Danielle, Brendan, and Amanda. He was preceded in death by his Father, Baxter Rankine, and Mother, Mary Rankine.
The Service will be held on Tuesday January 9, 2007 at 11:30am at St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Rancho Palos Verdes. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
