We met Bernie at Washington School Park about 13 years ago. Our dog, Bosco Jean and his dog, Charc would play together and the adults would stand around and "behave". I used to refer to Bernie as "the obedient master" because he just followed Charc all around the park! Bernie was a great guy with a wonderful smile and a great sense of humor. Always a hug if we passed in the market or a wave if we saw him on the road. We will always remember him as the ageless surfer cruising around town in his van. Our thoughts and prayers to Liz and Vanessa and Troy and the family. He will be greatly missed.

I had the privilege of working with Bernie for at least a short time at ARCO. I wish it could have been longer. He will sincerely be missed. Our prayers are with his family in their time of sorrow.

It is with a heart felt sorrow that I send my condolences to your family. Even though I first met Bernie while working the Helpdesk at the LA Refinery, I really got to know him as a friend while I lived in Redondo. I used to often see Bernie in the lineup along South Redondoâ€™s surf breaks.  It was clearly evident how much he enjoyed not only surfing but life in general. I came to know him not so much as a fellow worker, but as a fellow surfer. His presence and good times in the water will be surely missed by all who knew and surfed along side him.

My sincere condolenses and sympathy go out to the family. I was very fortunate to work with Bernie at the L.A. Refinery and shared a few surf sessions with him as well. His bright smile and warm demeanor will be missed but not forgotten. Bernie charged and I know he is riding the perfect wave.

THE WORLD WILL BE A LESSER PLACE WITH OUT BERNIE.    HIS LIGHT SHONE ON EACH OF US EVERY DAY WE SAW HIM, AND IT WILL REMAIN IN OUR HEART BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW IT IS SHINING IN A BETTER PLACE NOW. PLEASE SHINE A LITTLE OF IT ON THE OTHERS THAT CROSS YOUR PATH EACH DAY IN HIS MEMORY.

My sincere condolences and sympathies go to you and your family. I worked with Bernie as a fellow Foreman at Arco and a weekly sighting at the beach. Often ,he would stop and talk to me on the Strand or in the store. Bernie was always a pleasure to be around, always gave good advice and always with an uplifting smile. Peggy and I will miss him and always rememeber him when we look at the waves at Redondo.Bernie rest in peace I know where you will be when we get there too.

I just wanted to send my condolences to the Glassman Family.  I had the priveledge of working with Bernie for several years.  I\'m an Operator at the Coker for the BP refinery.  I do recall one particular job that called for someone to decend into a large vessel [over 100\' tall] and retrieve a section of pipe that had fallen in by tieing a line around it and hoisting it up.  Well there were a couple of volunteers but Bernie was the lead man on the job and felt it was his responsibility.  He rigged up a bosin\'s chair and decended into that drum by himself.  There must have been 15 men holding onto that line.  I\'ll never forget it.  He was a fine friend and a finer man.  Again my deepest sympathy......Jim
