He was born in Vereeniging, South Africa in 1937; the oldest of two sons to Sybil and Eddy Sinclair. Brian attended Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He went to London where he worked for 18 months; the damp weather caused him to catch a ship and immigrate to Canada where he worked as a programmer/analyst at IBM. It was in Toronto where he then met Joyce.
Brian and Joyce were married in a small river village called Iroquois in Ontario, Canada in 1963. They started out living in Montreal but on a freezing dayin 1964 Brian got an acceptance letter for a job in Newport Beach. They headed out driving for Newport Beach in their new black Corvair convertible, all the way on “Route 66”!
They have two children, Laura and Kevin, who were both raised in the South Bay. His brother Peter also came to live in California; he and his wife Pam also had two children, John and Susan. We were all very saddened by Peter’s death two years ago. Our family gatherings will never be the same without the Sinclair brothers.
Brian worked for many years at CSC in El Segundo, and made lifelong friends while working there.
In his retirement Brian and Joyce enjoyed road travel, packing picnics for stopping to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. Finding time to spend with family and friends was always important as was Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church where he was always willing to volunteer in some capacity.
Brian is survived by his wife of 58 years, son, daughter, three grandsons, and one granddaughter.
