Carmen Torres Montez, a 70 year resident of Carson, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Born in Lamar, CO, Carmen was 94 when she died. Carmen is survived by daughters, Virginia Bedolla of Carson, CA, Pauline Funk of Long Beach, CA and Diane Duarte of Carson, CA; and son, Joseph Montez Sr. of Lakewood, CA. Carmen has 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Stephen Montez; parents, Librada and Tranquilino Torres and sons, Frank Montez and Stephen Montez. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Rice Mortuary on Wednesday, February 29 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm with the Vigil beginning at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Philomena Church on Thursday, March 1 at 10:30am. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception follows at Rice Mortuary in the Lighthouse Reception Room from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm.
