Charles William Payton Sr. went into the Lord's presence June 7, 2002. Born November 3, 1919 in Hope, Arkansas, he was a Redondo beach resident for 55 years. He is preceded in death by daughter, Pamela Jean Payton-Barnett, and is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy; his daughters, Carol and Ruth; and one son, Charles Jr.; 7 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. He served in the Marines in World War II. He was retired from Redondo Beach School District and was a member of the Carpenter's Union #1478. He was greatly loved by his entire family and will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 15, 2002 at Pacific Crest Cemetery, 2701 182nd St. (at Inglewood), Redondo Beach, CA.
