Christopher "Cree" Allen Chaves was born on March 22, 1968, as the middle child in his family. He graduated from Culver High School in 1987 and built a successful career as a plumber and in construction.
In 1995, he married and had two sons. His life took another path in 2010 with a new relationship that brought him three adult step-daughters and four grandchildren.
A passionate NASCAR fan, Chris's first vehicle—a blue VW bus—sparked a lifelong love for these unique vehicles. An avid collector, he amassed over 200 Hot Wheels die-cast cars. He was known for his laid-back personality, love for animals and nature, and his charm and sense of humor.
Chris enjoyed the thrill of riding his mountain bike and dirt bike around the beach and docks, embracing the freedom of the wind in his face. With a heart of gold, he made a lasting impact on everyone he met and is deeply missed.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Chaves, and his wife, Teresa Cisneros-Chaves. He is survived by his mother, Linda Chaves; partner, Brooke Hancock; sons, Matthew and Kyle Chaves; brother, Daniel Chaves; and sister, Laurie Pray.
A Memorial Service for Christopher will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, beginning at 1:00pm at Halverson-Stone & Myers Mortuary, 1223 Cravens Ave, Torrance, CA 90501.
