Colette Lafortune Pogue

Resident of Redondo Beach, CA

Born March 2, 1939 in Tulsa, OK and passed away on February 1, 2025 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Colette was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who loved gardening, antiquing and volunteering in her communities. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School and received a BA from Oklahoma State University. Shortly after graduation Colette moved with her husband Thomas to New Haven, CT. She enthusiastically taught elementary school in New Haven until becoming a full-time homemaker. Colette and Thomas moved to Iowa City, IA in 1965 where they raised their family and Colette made lasting contributions to the community though her volunteer efforts with the Questers Society, the Johnson County Historical Society and the American Hosta Society. In between Iowa and California, Colette and Thomas lived in Santa Fe, NM for over 15 years, where Colette was an active member and supporter of the Santa Fe Botanical Gardens.

Colette is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Pogue, a sister Renee Lafortune Harris, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Jan Pogue, son Robert Pogue, and ten grandchildren.

A memorial mass for Colette will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Hermosa Beach, located at 244 Prospect Ave, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Santa Fe Botanical Gardens is suggested.
