David Adair

Dave was born in Norfolk, Virginia on July 27, 1954, to Barbara and Doyal Adair. Growing up in Torrance, he made lifelong friends at school and through sports. If the sport had a ball, he could play it. As a skilled athlete, he participated in the first AYSO soccer team from Torrance, continuing to the L.A. Coliseum where they competed against other countries. Starting with Little League Baseball he found his true calling as an athlete at a young age. Attending West High, he excelled in Baseball and Football, in addition to his academics, then becoming a Salutatorian for his graduating class in 1972.

Receiving an academic scholarship at USC, he continued to make many more friendships on and off the baseball field. Playing on the Trojan Baseball team as a freshman is where he met many of his Kappa Sig brothers, making lasting friendships that continued throughout life. He graduated USC with a BS in Business Administration and received a fellowship, graduating with an MBA in Entrepreneurship.

Dave began his career working for Allstate, earning the ‘Rookie of the Year’ and was promoted to management. He soon realized that his business education could be far more utilized working with his father. Dave teamed up with his father Doyal Adair who was a skilled machinist, and together the D.W. Adair Company was created. Partnered together they built a successful manufacturing company that produced many parts for the aerospace industries.

Dave and Lin married in 1976 settling in Torrance, raising their two children, Jamie and Devin, and later moved the family to Manhattan Beach. Here Dave could be found supporting and coaching his children throughout their school years, being a loving father to his children and a devoted husband to Lin. Family times were the best with so many wonderful memories full of love, excitement and laughter, being a true mentor to his children.  Whenever the extended family got together, everyone knew good times were being made.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lin Adair, his beloved daughter, Jamie Adair, and his dear sister, Kelly Kraft.  His son, Devin Adair, preceded Dave in death, passing away in 2006.  Dave leaves behind a large extended family composed of many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and all their children.
