
Delphine Hanson, 78, of Redondo Beach, CA. passed away peacefully on May 30, 2019. She was born May 31, 1940 in Sandy Cove, Newfoundland, Canada. She was the oldest child of twelve born to Ida Coles Hynes. Delphine was raised by her loving grandparents John and Margaret Coles.
On January 23, 1960, Delphine married the love of her life Leonard “Lard” Hanson. They met while Lard was stationed in Newfoundland Canada with the US Airforce. In 1964, after Len finished his tour in the Air Force in Wyoming, they moved to Southern California to make their home and raise a wonderful family.
Delphine spent many years working in customer service, mainly with the food service industry. However, her passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was so happy to have all her grandchildren by her side the day before her passing. It will be a special memory for all. She enjoyed traveling, spending time at the beach and baking homemade bread and cinnamon rolls for her family.
Delphine is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Leonard “Lard”. Two sons, Len Hanson and wife Danya of Redondo Beach CA., and Vance Hanson and wife Pam of El Segundo CA. Six grandchildren, Terry Barentsen (Tatum Mangus) of Brooklyn, NY., Ryan Hanson (Katina) of San Diego, CA., Matthew Hanson (Ashley) of San Diego, CA., Curtis Hanson of Corona, CA., Chelsey Hanson of Orange, CA., and Bryce Hanson of Orange, CA. She is also survived by her Canadian family. Brothers Charles Hynes (Joy), Emanuel Hynes (Joan Greening), Andrew Hynes (Marilyn), Paul Hynes (Debbie Roshko-Marchuk), and Raymond Hynes. Her sisters Greta Parsons (Chesley) and Angeline Kelly (Maurice). Two brother- in- laws Chris Hanson (Cleo) of Yucaipa, CA., and Harlen Hanson (Nancy) of Huntington Beach, CA.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Randy and Ron. Her mother, Ida Coles Hynes and her grandparents John and Margaret Coles. Two brothers, John Hynes and Stedman Hynes and two sisters, Evelyn Campbell and Elizabeth Hynes.
Delphine loved Huntington Beach and requested that the Pacific Ocean be her final resting place.
