

Doris Mae Matson Tomlin was born August 14, 1931, to Ray and Lucy Matson in Torrance, California. She attended Lawndale Elementary Schools, Redondo Union High School, El Camino College, and Pepperdine University. She taught elementary school in Manhattan Beach and Lawndale School Districts.
She married Jack Tomlin August 3, 1957 and they had two boys, Dwight Edward and Mark Raymond.
Dorrie, as she was called, has been the longest active member of Lawndale Christian Church/Restoration Life Christian Church since 1935. She began teaching Bible School at 16 years of age and taught until her late 70's. Dorrie and Jack loved to travel and collect depression age glass as well as antiques.
Her family were pioneers of North Torrance, owning farms on Redondo Beach Blvd. and Hawthorne Blvd. and Artesia Blvd. and Hawthorne Blvd. She loved the South Bay and never wanted to move away.
She is predeceased by her parents Ray and Lucy Matson, brother Donald and son Mark. She leaves her son Dwight, sister-in-law Iona Matson, nephew David Matson (Mary), nieces Lori Bachmann (Greg), Donna Gunnar (Mike), and Lyrae Monson (Dee), and grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed. She saw many changes from her youth into her nineties.
