Douglas Franklin Olivera, 76, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 26, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Douglas was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived in Gumaca, Philippines for part of his childhood. He worked for both Trans World Airlines (TWA) and American Airlines for 37 years. He enjoyed many years of traveling, especially to the Philippines. He was a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Douglas is predeceased by his parents Roque and Elizabeth (nee Sigmund) Olivera and his brothers Edwin Olivera and Roque Olivera Jr. Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Erlinda A. Olivera; his son Douglas Olivera Jr (Stephanie); Linda Westhead (Kirk) Denise Olivera (Dennis); his grandchildren, Olivia, Mary Nola and Phoenix; and his siblings Feliza, Carol, Robert, and Frank.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6 at 4:00 pm-7:00 pm, Rosary-5:00 pm at Lighthouse Memorial & Receptions, White & Day Center, 901 Torrance Blvd, Redondo Beach, CA.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 7 at 11:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1050 W. 163rd Street, Gardena, CA.
