Dustin is survived by his mother, Deborah E. Haskins, father, Dennis P. R. Codon, and his siblings, Denette M. Carriger, Darin P. Codon, Dayna R. Codon, Dawnell M. O’Day, and Devin G. A. Codon. He is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dustin graduated from Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, California, and attended El Camino College. Throughout his life he held various positions and, since 2018, was employed as a Logistics Specialist.
Dustin possessed a strong work ethic, inquisitive intellect, and an outgoing personality. He loved his family deeply and cherished his many friends. He was loyal, sympathetic, and generous to a fault.
From a young age, Dustin displayed a rare depth of compassion. At only 17, he chose to remain by his paternal grandmother’s side during her final hours, holding her hand for several hours and offering comfort as she peacefully passed. Later in life, he traveled to Utah to be with his maternal grandmother before her passing, treasuring the time spent together. These experiences revealed Dustin’s emotional connection to life’s journey and his unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Dustin had such a beautiful heart. He cared deeply for others and lived with unselfish love and forgiveness. He never spoke ill of anyone, choosing instead to see the good in people. His fun-loving spirit made him always ready for an adventure, whether sharing a laugh with friends or simply enjoying life’s simple moments. His warmth, compassion, sensitivity and joy touched everyone around him.
Dustin had a deep love for the ocean and found peace in surfing, snowboarding, skating, and spending time at the beach.
He had a gift for making friends wherever he went, creating lifelong bonds that spanned from California to Missouri and beyond. Dustin enriched the lives of everyone who knew him and will be sincerely missed by all who were fortunate to share in his life. His memory will live on through the love he gave, the laughter he inspired, and the countless lives he touched.
Though his earthly journey has ended, we take comfort in knowing that Dustin is now at peace in the presence of his Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before. Until we meet again, his light will continue to shine in our hearts.
A small, intimate gathering will be held at a later date. Family and friends will be invited to share stories and memories. Please send photos or stories to [email protected] so they may be shared.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The Skatepark Project (formerly the Tony Hawk Foundation), an organization reflecting Dustin’s adventurous and giving spirit. You can donate online through their official site: skatepark.org/donate. Your gift helps build inclusive skateparks for underserved youth, honoring Dustin’s legacy of goodwill and joy.
