Emeteria Sunio Lopez

She was born on March 9, 1909 in Bani, Rosario La Union Philippines. In 1931 she married

Maximo Lopez Sr. and had 9 children in total with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

"Enang" as we all knew her moved to Oak Harbor, Washington in 1977 after being petitioned

by her son Jesus Lopez who was in the United States Navy. In 1980 she moved to

Carson, California where she resided with her entire family of whom she petitioned after arriving from

the Philippines.

Enang was a well respected figure and a pioneer of her time, as she was the only female Bario Capitan

of her province of La Union. She was undefeated in her tenure as the Bario Capitan for Bani and

served a total of 21 years, and in that time period brought better schools and economy for the people she

served.

Above all, Enang was had a true servant's heart which was expressed by many deeds of kindness and

caring for the people. The large number of guests to her home often enthusiastically testified to her graciousness

as a hostess and a person people admired.

She was a great wife to her husband, a great mother to her children, a great grandmother to her grandchildren.

She was the Matriarch of the family, she was the glue that held us together.

Enang is survived by two sons and three daughters and their spouses. Max and Eleanor Lopez III of Carson, Ca.,

Maximo and Norma Lopez Jr of Carson, Ca, the late Maximo and Dominica Tolentino of Carson, Ca., Jesus and

Teofila Figueroa of Torrance, Ca., Roger and Remedios Romero of Carson, Ca. and Guadalupe Lopez wife

of the late Jesus Lopez of Oak Harbor, Washington, many grand children and great grand-children.

She is preceeded in death by her husband of 49 years, Maximo Lopez Sr. children Jesus Lopez, Pescasio Lopez and wife Feliza Lopez, and

grandchildren, Priscilla Figueroa and Emily F. Basbas

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday Febuary 12, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Rice Mortuary

in Torrance, Ca. A service will be held on Saturday Febuary 13, 2010 at 8:45 AM at St. Philomena Catholic Church in

Carson, Ca.
