Ernest (Ernie) Hernandez passed away peacefully in his home in Palos Verdes on October 21, 2015. A South Bay native, he graduated from Mira Costa High School in 1953 and went on to graduate from USC and Loyola Marymount University.
Ernie's career as a Spanish teacher lasted well over 40 years. He taught at Bishop Montgomery High School, Fermin Lasuen High School in San Pedro, and Mira Costa High School where he retired in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his wife Susan. He is survived by his brother Chuey; sisters Sali Hernandez and Emma Castillion; two children Giordan and Alexis; four grandchildren Jordan, Miller, Marissa, Natalie and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be November 4, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. James Church in Redondo Beach. Memorials can be made to the USC Memory and Aging Center.
