Genevieve Catherine Bruno, 83, died October 7, 2012, with her family by her side at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, CA. She was born June 1, 1929, in Los Angeles to Paul and Marie Ragone who immigrated to California from Italy. She spent the majority of her life in Redondo Beach. Genevieve was a very hard worker; she worked in the food industry for over 20 years. While cashiering, she met the love of her life, Tom Bruno, a butcher from Los Angeles. They married in 1951, and later moved to Paso Robles, CA while her husband was in the US Army. After Tom returned from the Korean War, they moved to Redondo Beach where they raised their children John and Janice and she has resided ever since. Her last years were spent working at Arico's Hallmark. She loved accounting, serving customers, and being with her dear friends while there, always with a smile on her face. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, reading, visiting the beach and spending time with family. She devoted much of her time and energy, but mostly her abundance of love, to her family. Genevieve is survived by her daughter and spouse, Janice and Robert Garrene; sister, Ann Bumpass; brother, Tino Ragone; 2 grandchildren, Bryan Garrene and Michelle (Garrene) Sozzi; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be immensely missed by all who knew her. A Vigil will be held Sunday, Oct. 14 at 7 pm at Rice Mortuary. Funeral mass to follow on Monday, Oct. 15th at 10:00 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Redondo Beach, CA.
