With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gerald Francis Fairchild, who departed this life peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family on April 18, 2025, at the age of 84
Born on September 20, 1940, Gerald was a man of unwavering integrity, deep compassion, and quiet strength. He touched the lives of all who knew him with his kind spirit, steady wisdom, and genuine warmth.
A proud United States Marine and a dedicated Redondo Beach Police Officer, Gerald served both his country and his community with honor and distinction. He was a true pillar of Redondo Beach, known not only for his service but for the steady, generous presence he brought to all who knew him.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, loyal brother, and cherished friend. His legacy is reflected in the values he instilled, the lives he helped shape, and the countless memories shared by those who loved him.
Gerald is survived by:
• Daughters: Tina Shaw, Tracy Fairchild, and Vickie Armstrong
• Sister: Debra Sue Fairchild
• Brother: Virgil Fairchild and his spouse Nancy
• Grandchildren: Beth Hedrick, Robert Morrison, and Vera Kernes.
• Great-grandchildren: Luciana Dennis, Mianna Weeda, Ryder Morrison, Amelia Hedrick, and Patrick Spriggs.
• Niece and Nephew: Katherine and Charles
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carol Fairchild, his son Steven Weeda, and his granddaughter Tonja Weeda.
Though he may no longer walk beside us, Gerald’s love, laughter, and legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
