Henry was born January 20, 1942 in Los Angeles, California, the only child of Benjamin and Yolande Ann (Robertson) Woods. Henry grew up in South LA, and attended grade school at Holy Cross Elementary. Henry attended Mount Carmel High School, an all-boys college preparatory academy in Los Angeles, which ultimately closed its doors in 1976. He graduated in 1960. He also studied Graphic Design at East Los Angeles College.
Henry joined the Army National Guard and served until March of 1970 when he was honorably discharged. Henry worked at Rhee's shoe store in Huntington Park and worked as a graphic artist for RCA Victor. Henry dabbled in studio photography, painting, pencil drawings and sculpture. But Henry spent the majority of his working life as a commercial artist.
Preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Yolande and his daughter Jennifer, Henry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet, and their daughters Nathalie, Yolande, Melissa and Jessica, and their grandsons Kamal and Hector.
