Jack W. Hartman, a 55 year resident of Hawthorne, passed away peacefully, after a brief battle with cancer, on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Little Company of Mary Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, on January 6, 1927 to Arthur Henry Hartman and Mary Elizabeth Wheeler, he was 81 when he died. He was a war veteran who served honorably in the Navy during World War II. Jack was employed by North American Aircraft where he retired after 35 years of service in 1989. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2075 and was active in many aspects of the Post's activities. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Leona Maxine Hartman. He is survived by his daughter Sandra L. Bosch of Oroville, CA and stepson, Wally (Willie) Seller of Chino Hills. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Joseph, Stephen, and Jackalyn Bosch; Alexandria and Nichole Scholnick; Jessica, Brian, and Summer Staehler, as well as many nieces, nephews and many, many lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the McCormick Mortuary located at 1998 Pacific Coast Hwy. in Redondo Beach. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., at the same location. Burial services will follow at the Riverside National Cemetery. Jack's VFW Post will provide Military honors by their Honor Guard. A celebration of life will follow the burial at approximately 5:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 2075 located at 4563 W 131st St., Hawthorne CA everyone is welcome!
