Died peacefully on April 30, 2016 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa and moved to Los Angeles in 1955. He started his banking career at First Interstate Bank, and for many years managed a number of banks in the Los Angeles area.
He was a member of the L.A. Westside/Brentwood Rotary Club, a member of the Wilshire Country Club since 1982 and also treasurer for the South Bay Serra Club. He did extensive traveling during his life time and loved to play golf.
He leaves behind his wife Mary; his son Jim; step daughters Marla and Michelle Miller; a brother Don Phipps (Mary Joe); a sister Nancy Langley (Herb) both from Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by so many who loved him.
