James was born on May 24, 1943 in Norwood, MA. to Wilmer and Mildred (Gillender) Powers. He loyally served his country in the Army for 3 years and on July 8, 1967, he married his best friend Dianne R. Goodine. They raised four children, Marcia, Jimmy (Page), Tami (Doug) Winbury and David (Christina). James will also be fondly remembered by his seven amazing grandchildren, Leila, Mako, Troy, Cooper, Hudson, Marshall and Gordon.
James had a strong work ethic, owner of Powers Construction he was a hard working Carpenter, had a passion for fishing...always looking to catch the big one, he lived for growing tomato’s and gardening with his wife and family. Family always came first for Bumpy and he loved them with a passion. He loved his food, loved to cook and was often heard referring to his tomato plants as his 'children'. He was strong, honest and trustworthy. Quiet, opinionated, and devoted. He was everything to his family.
He was known for his selfless generosity, quick wit and his kind and compassionate spirit. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Bumpy during his 75 years and those lessons will continue to guide us throughout our lives. He was a stop and smell the rose's kind of guy and will be missed dearly.
A private Memorial Service will be held in September.
