October 15, 1958 – December 15, 2024
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jesus Buntan, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on December 15, 2024, at the age of 66.
Born on October 15, 1958, in the province of Rizal, Navotas, Manila, Jesus was a proud son of the Philippines. He grew up with a strong sense of family, community, and faith, values that guided him throughout his life. A devoted Catholic, Jesus lived his life with a deep reverence for God and his faith. His devotion was evident in the way he cared for his family, and in the quiet moments he spent in prayer.
Jesus initially pursued a career in dentistry but later followed in his family's footsteps, building his own successful business making coconut candies, peanut brittle, and supplying local businesses with fish from his ponds across the Philippines. In 1997, Jesus made the brave decision to immigrate to the United States, where he continued to pursue his entrepreneurial spirit and build a life for himself and his loved ones. He was a devoted father to his four children, and his love for family was always evident in everything he did.
Jesus was a man of diverse interests. He had a passion for traveling and exploring new places, and his curiosity about both current and ancient history was ever-present. He loved watching movies about war, a subject that fascinated him, and he found peace in spending time with his children and grandchildren. His love for fishing was a reflection of his calm and patient nature, and he cherished the quiet moments spent by the water.
An amazing cook, Jesus took joy in collecting recipes and experimenting in the kitchen, always eager to try new dishes and share his culinary creations with his family. His home was often filled with the warm aromas of his cooking, which brought everyone together around the table.
Jesus was preceded in death by his former wife, Rosalie Duran. He leaves behind his four children, Jesselle, Jellie, Jessalie and Jackielou Buntan, and his cherished grandchildren, Raiden and Jason David, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. He is also survived by his siblings, extended family, and many friends who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Jesus will be held in the coming months, with more details to follow. His family invites all those who knew and loved him to join in remembering the man who touched so many lives with his generosity, kindness, and laughter.
Though he is no longer with us, Jesus's legacy of love, faith, hard work, and joy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Rest in peace, Dad. You will forever be missed and loved.
