

John graduated from Huntington Beach High School in 1983. He ran cross country and played soccer while there.
He served as a medic in the U.S. Navy and was dedicated to his career at Torrance Memorial Medical Center the last 35 plus years. He prided himself as the Clinical Simulation Lab Technician, was a certified CPR instructor, volunteered moulage for the Hazmat Decon Team and disaster drills. He was also an integral member of the AHA Training Center.
John was a self-defense instructor who held multiple black belts and trained many students, including all of his children.
On March 8th, 1988, in Inglewood, California, John was united in holy matrimony to Tricia Ann Kobiskie. They raised three children together and remained married for 30 years.
John was a loving father and grandfather and is survived by his only son Jake, two daughters, Brittany and Jessica, and his three grandchildren, Cassidy, Chloe and Connor. John was a best friend to all his kids throughout his life and adored being a grandfather. He loved spoiling them with donuts on the weekends and soft serve ice cream. He was honored to be a father figure to everyone.
John was a son, older brother, grandson, husband, father, father-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, grandfather, uncle, co-worker, and friend. He went by many nicknames including Dad, Johnny, John Brown, J. Brown, J.B., Old Chevy, Papa and Sifu John.
He loved to hang out by his pool with a “voka” lemonade while listening to classic rock. He loved going to the Redondo Beach Pier, bike rides, concerts, fairs, gambling, going out to eat, and long car rides. The last few years John became an adventure seeker which brought him much joy.
John will be incredibly missed by his family and friends who loved him dearly.
A huge celebration of life will be planned once it is safe to do so due to Covid.
