John W Gill

Born in Latuda, Utah on June 26, 1926 and passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, in Redondo Beach, CA on February 8, 2006. He was a veteran of WWII. Wally lived in Redondo Beach for 62 years and worked for the Redondo Beach School District for 35 years, beginning as one of 3 gardeners and retiring as the Director of Maintenance and Operations in 1985. During his retirement years, he enjoyed working on miscellaneous projects at his sons' homes, puttering around the family's vacation home in Lake Isabella, and fishing on the Kern River. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia (Jinny); his sons Mark, Steve and Craig; his daughters-in-law Jean and Teresa; his sisters-in-law Betty Gill, Jo Ann Willoughby and Georgia Dekens; his brother-in-law Leon; his nieces Janna, Rhesa and Rosie (by marriage); his nephews Bryan, Blayne, Dale and Davey; many grand nieces and nephews; and his "granddog" Didi. He was preceded in death by his mother Annie, his father Herbert, his brothers Harold and Herbert Jr. and his baby daughter Delinda Kathleen.

Family & friends visitation will be on Friday, February 10th from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Rice Mortuary in Torrance. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 11th at 11:30 AM at Green Hills Memorial Park.
