Gillies, Jr., John St. Claire a 11 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 in Torrance. Born in the Philippines on December 30, 1924, John was 80. He was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church. John is survived by wife, Saturnina Gillies of Torrance; daughters Jeanette(Phillip) Gasib and Christy (Luis) Cu both of Torrance; sons, Frank (Claudette) Gillies of Gardena, Joseph (Jane) Gillies of New Jersey and Russell (Rosita) Gillies of Torrance; sisters Josephine Gillies and Jeanette Grybos both of FL. Also left to mourn his passing are 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A gathering of family & friends with reception will be held Friday, April 8th, Saturday, April 9th and Sunday, April 10th from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Rice Mortuary in Torrance. Rosary service will be Sunday, April 9th at 7:00PM in the mortuary chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, April 11th at 10:00AM at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Torrance. Burial will follow with procession to Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
