Fives, Joseph Herbert a 40-year resident of Redondo Beach, CA passed away on Monday, January 23, 2006 in Redondo Beach, surrounded by his wife of 45 years, Son Hui, his daughter, Joanne, and his son, Joe. Joseph was born in Queens, NY on June 19, 1939 to Edwin and Anna Fives. He joined the Air Force after graduating from Thomas A. Edison High School, NY in 1957. He was stationed in S. Korea after completing courses at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. After leaving the Air Force, he managed base exchanges in CA, NM, and S. Vietnam. In the late 60's, he started a career as a computer programmer in the aerospace industry, working for Hughes Aircraft and Northrop.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Son Hui, his brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Peggy, his nephew Eddie, his daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and John, his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Lorie, and his grandchildren and step-grandchildren, James, Sarah, Jillian, Alyssa, Jennifer, and Deanna.
After cremation, he will be buried at sea on February 6, 2006. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph's name to the American Cancer Society.
