

Julieta T. Garin, “Litang” was born on November 12, 1926 in Atimonan, Quezon Province, Philippines to parents Irene and Porfirio Talavera. She was called home to be with the Lord, Jesus Christ and joined her devoted husband Manny on January 28, 2014 at age 87. She is the last survivor of her immediate family. She is the fifth child of six children. She taught first grade and high school in her hometown. She was married in the Philippines on July 21, 1956 to her sweetheart Manuel V. Garin who was friends with her brother. She immigrated to Los Angeles, California in 1957 to be with her husband who was establishing their forever home in America. She proudly became a U.S. Citizen in 1976. She loved being a mother raising five children, the last two being twin girls, a first for both families. What a blessing. Family was important to her. She was a loving, kind and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her children: Kerwin Garin, La Verne Weeks (Curt), Myra Wilson (John) all from Torrance, Noreen Helvie (James) of Santa Clara and Nancy Burns (Dennis) of Agoura Hills; her grandchildren: Ryan K. Sugimoto (Weeks), Kristin Quevedo (Mark) (Weeks), Matthew and Emily Wilson, Nicholas and Daniel Burns; her Great granddaughter Quevedo expected birth on February 21st, 2014; and many nieces and nephews. She devotedly took care of her husband until his death in May of 2010. She was a precious and gracious lady and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. at Halverson, Stone and Myers Mortuary, 1223 Cravens Ave., Torrance, California. On Friday, February 7th at 2:00 p.m. a Funeral Mass will be at St. James Catholic Church, 415 Vincent St., Redondo Beach, California to be followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
