Kapil Dev Dhindaw, 73, loving son of late Sri Ratikant Dhindaw and Srimati Vidyawati Dhindaw. Born in New Delhi, India passed away on Aja Annada Ekadashi, August 22, 2022 at 8:50pm in Torrance, California.
Kapil immigrated to the USA in 1979 with only $12 in his pocket to pursue a better life for his family. Armed with his education, unflinching self-confidence, and steadfast faith in god, he ultimately achieved his American dream, overcoming numerous setbacks and naysayers along the way. He worked as a mechanical engineer in aerospace for 33 years and quickly became the "go to" engineer, recognized for solving difficult problems when others had given up. He loved a good challenge, taking each one as an opportunity to grow his character and reinforce his faith, ultimately giving him another story of perseverance to share with weary hearts. An eternal optimist, Kapil inspired and encouraged everyone he met by exemplifying his favorite phrases: "never say never in life", "where there is a will, there is a way","the sky is not falling", and "have faith in Krishna". His encouraging spirit, good nature, and jolly demeanor enabled him to connect with people from all walks of life. He cherished his relationships and left a memorable and friendly impression with everyone he connected with.
Those that got to know Kapil would quickly discover his love for Indian music, Bollywood films, ping pong, song and dance, and most notably their lordships, Sri Sri Rukmini Dwarkadish. Spontaneous recitations of the maha mantra, bhajans, and old bollywood tunes fueled his spirit and warmed the hearts of everyone around him. He strived to keep his family and friends rooted in spirituality and Indian culture by regularly hosting programs centered on these themes just as his mother and father did while he lived in India. While the western world had many sophistications to offer, Kapil happily lived a simple life. A life that was rooted in faith and centered around his family. Nothing pleased him more than watching the fruit of his sacrifices materialize in the success of his children and the smile on his wife's face.
Kapil is survived by his dear wife of 49 years, Sadhana, daughter Seema, son Kamal, daughter-in-law Minel, grandson Aadhi, sister Kusum Sharma, nephews, Rakshit Sharma, Gunjan Sharma, Mohit Dhindaw, Peeyush Sharma, and nieces, Sonia Sharda, Monika Pathak and Shweta Agarwal.
His friends and family are invited to share memories and honor Kapil’s life in the way he would want to be remembered - as a jovial, caring, and loyal husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
