
Hilda Harris, a resident of Torrance for 48 years died at LCMH on November 24, 2005 after an extended illness. Born Lennie Hilda Dawson, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, she moved to Torrance with her family in 1957. Hilda was involved with many organizations throughout her life including PTA, West Torrance AYSO, Southwood Little League and Angeles Council for Girl Scouts of America. For many years she provided endless volunteer hours to all the organizations she supported. Previously very active at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Torrance, she was most recently a member of the First Lutheran Church on Carson in Torrance. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling, cruising, bowling, camping, motorcycle riding, visiting family, painting statuary, playing bingo, and shopping. Hilda is survived by her husband Joseph, four daughters, Deborah Harris-Meek of Torrance, Jacqueline Thompson of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Alicia Harris-Erlemann of Lucas, Texas, Rebecca Harris of Tucson, Arizona, one son, Craig Harris of Torrance, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation and services will be on Sunday, November 27, 2005, 2:00 P.M. at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, CA. Services and burial will be in Pine Bluff, Arkansas at Fitzhugh Cemetery and are being arranged by Ralph Robinson and Sons Mortuary also of Pine Bluff.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
