(Skip)
A life long resident of the West Los Angeles and the South Bay, Marvin G. (Skip) Bienlein, Jr. passed away in his home on September 15th.
Skip was born on February 20, 1934, the first of Marvin and Mae Bienlein's three children. Growing up in Culver City he attended St. Augustine's School, where he first met his wife Eleanor, and St. Monica's High School. Upon completing college, Skip began work as an electrician, his life long trade and, frequent avocation. Skip served as General Foreman on many jobs, large and small, including The Thousand Oaks Mall and The Pacific Design Center, and was recently recognized by the IBEW for his 50 years as a member of this union.
In 1956, Skip married Eleanor, moved to Manhattan Beach, bought their first house and started their family. Three children later, it was time for a bigger house, so in 1963 they moved to the home they shared for the next 45 years. Skip and Eleanor were longtime parishioners of American Martyrs Parish, and Skip's faith gave him strength throughout his life.
Skip enjoyed his children, his grandchildren, his yard, the desert, airplanes and staying busy. Never one to sit idly by, Skip always had a project or two in the works and was more than happy to lend a hand, or advice, when work needed to be done.
Skip is survived by his wife, Eleanor, his daughters Chrisann, Caryn and Cynthia, their husbands Eric, John and Jim, and grandchildren Caitlin, Britta, Bryanna, Brook, Bryce, Jeff and Kevin. He is further survived by his siblings, David Bienlein and Sr. Betty Mae Bienlein, S.N.D.
Funeral services for Skip Bienlein will held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 27th 2008 at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Vitas Hospice Charitable Foundation, 990 W. 190th St. Suite 120, Torrance California 90502, Attn. Pam Weber.
