

Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois to Conrad and Mary Steinhauer in 1934. She was the third child of a family of nine children. She was preceded in death by her parents Conrad and Mary Steinhauer, her brothers Conrad, Bob, Jack, infant brother Henry and sister Sarah. She leaves behind three siblings, Jim, Sharon and Cathy, as well as many brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
Mary attended Fenger High School in Chicago, Illinois graduating in 1952. She continued on to accept a scholarship to Normal Illinois State University, graduating in 1956 with a degree in the teaching of Physically Handicapped Children. Following her graduation, she moved to Southern California in 1956 and took a teaching position with the Norwalk School District teaching physically handicapped students where she remained until 1960. Mary then took a Government position with the United States Army to teach servicemen's children. She returned to the United States in 1962. Returning to California, Mary joined the Long Beach Unified School District as both a teacher and principal again serving the physically handicapped student population. Mary transferred to Mann Elementary serving as Principal where she remained until her retirement from teaching.
Mary was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church since 1963 until present. She was devoted to her mission of keeping Concordia Lutheran Church functional. She held many positions and worked tirelessly to serve in any way she could, to the glory of God.
Mary was dearly loved by family and friends, and will be greatly missed.
