Michael Richard Sayegh born August 15, 1988, passed away October 8, 2009 at 9:50 PM after being involved in an automobile accident. He was the sole beloved child of Madeleine and Richard. Michael was 21 years old.
He graduated from St. Lawrence Martyr Grammar School, Mary Star High School and was recently a semester away from completing his 2 year JC degree from El Camino College. He also attended a semester at the University of Arizona Engineering Astronomy School.
Michael was outgoing, sensitive and athletic. He surfed, skateboarded, biked, golfed, hiked, played little league baseball, tennis, ping pong (at adult advanced level), soccer and basketball. He made the freshman basketball team at Bishop Montgomery High School and was asked to join the freshmen basketball team at the University of Arizona.
Michael had many interests including radio controlled airplanes, nitro cars and a love for music. He was an avid fan of Blink 182, Angles & Airwave, +44, etc. He played electric and acoustic guitar and even took his hand at composing and recording some songs. He would love to work on his cars and made many modifications and repairs himself. He was most proud of his sound system modifications and a remote controlled antitheft kill switch which he designed and installed recently in his Mustang. It worked great!
Michael grew up in Palos Verdes and spent many summers on Lake Powell boating, hiking, riding a wave runner or wake board. He spent time with the family traveling to Zion, Bryce Canyon, Yellowstone and other national parks. He would also spend time in Ft. Lauderdale and New Jersey lakes over the summers with his relatives.
He loved his time with his dad at the Boeing/Hughes "take your kid to work day". He was fascinated by satellites and what they did. He talked of one day becoming an engineer.
Michael was fascinated by the cosmos. "How did all this happen?" he would ask. He read with enthusiasm Scientific American and took astronomy at U of A.
He had many friends and spent much time with them. His facebook page has 280 friends.
Michael held jobs at Starbucks, Subway, Abercrombie, and Performance Bicycle. Recently he had a hard time finding a job due to the economy. He did all the gardening and many chores around the house to earn money. He even took his hand at some serious plumbing tasks. Lately he was helping in planning the remodel of a bathroom to earn money.
Over the last several months his sensitive side began coming through as he would hug his parents and tell them that he loved them. He met a girl whom he loved and began talking about how he could pursue his dream to have a home and a loving family.
