
Michael J. Shepard age 58 of Lomita, California died January 29, 2007 following treatment for cardiac disease. He was born in Robinson, Illinois on November 19, 1948 to Andy and Mary Shepard.
Following graduation from Robinson High School where he was an outstanding athlete, he attended the University of Illinois. He joined the United States Marine Corp in 1967 to proudly serve his country in Viet Nam. After his service he moved to California where he resided for over 30 years. In California he managed the Cattlemen's Restaurant and the Starboard Attitude on the Pier at Redondo Beach. Mike always enjoyed a spirited discussion from sports to politics with his customers, friends, and family. He relished in his role as Great Uncle Mike giving advice to his many grand nephews and nieces.
Mike left many close friends in his California extended family. He is survived by his sisters Suzann (Suzy) Shepard of Carbondale, Illinois and Mary Lynn Wiman and husband Ferrell of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brother-in-law Charles Weck of Robinson, Illinois; nieces and nephews Allyson Weck Calloway, Steve Weck, and Jim Weck of the Robinson area, Andrea Weck Holtz of Findlay, Ohio, Robert Osborne of Spring, Texas, Michele Osborne Pierron of Amelia, Louisiana, Shannon Weger of Carbondale, Illinois, Melissa Weger Espinosa of Phoenix, Arizona, and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Barbara Weck and Sharon Osborne, and two nieces Jeri Lyn Weck and Sheryl Denise Osborne Wright. A celebration of his life will be held in California.
