Marie was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on June 12, 1938. She was raised in Arco, Idaho. A small town with the distinction of being the first city ever to be powered by nuclear power. She was the 5th of 10 brothers and sisters born into the McKenzie family.
Raised on the farm, her responsibility during harvest was to count the number of bags of potatoes that had been picked. She showed her spirit of independence early in life when she went to work at the local print shop at the age of 16 setting up the type for the local newspaper. The money she made with this job she shared with the family to help the household. This revealed the wonderful big heart she had and manifested it every day of her life. Striking out on her own, she moved to Idaho Falls where she met the love of her life Wallace Leo Fouts whom she remained happily married for 45 years.
Marie was a wonderful wife and mother. She loved playing board games and cards with her friends and family. She loved watching football and baseball games and was a winner numerous times in the family football pool. She enjoyed bowling and shared golf with Wally as a pastime activity for over twenty years.
Marie had a great love for children and would always light up when she got a chance to meet and interact with them. She was taken swiftly by aggressive cancer.
She is survived by her two sons, Thomas Leslie Fouts and Miguel Laurence Fouts and, enjoyed five grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Please make donations to the Marie Fouts Big Heart Fund at St. Jude’s in lieu of flowers.
